A 365-day devotional, built around one practice
Most daily devotionals give you 365 separate thoughts. You read one, feel something, and by Thursday you could not say what Monday was about.
This one runs on a single practice that accumulates. Week 1 asks for 3 names. Week 3 adds a fourth. Every week after that adds a lens rather than a new task, so by day 365 the thing you started in 40 seconds has become part of how you move through the world.
What is different about it
Every day states what it costs you in minutes, where to attach it in a day you already have, and how to tell whether anything is changing. The measure is your attention, never whether anyone responded.
There is writing space built into the book rather than sold beside it. A baseline page at the front, two lines a day, and 5 questions at the end of each week. That is there because of the evidence: across 138 studies and 19,951 people, monitoring your progress toward a goal made reaching it more likely, and the effect was larger when the information was physically recorded (Harkin et al., 2016).
No study has tested that on spiritual formation. Nobody has. The book says so on the page where it matters.
Where it is up to
56 of the 365 days are written, about 43,000 words. The remaining 309 are being written now.
There is no publication date, and putting a fake one here would be the first thing in this project that was not true. Join the list and you will hear when there is something real to hear.
Tell me when the book is ready
You will hear when there is a date, and before anyone else. In the meantime you get the practice the book is built on, as a page you can print today.
